During day 2 of this project Mark and I spent most of the day dismembering the caravan. The seller said that it had suffered a little bit of damp but that this had been resolved.
Well, all I can say it that areas of it were rotten as a pear. All hidden away though and none of it affecting the bits that I intended to salvage.
I managed to save enough of the bed boxes and cushions to be able to rapidly build the main bed for the ambulance (when I'm ready). I also salvaged the electrical systems, bathroom (toilet, shower, etc), the cooker (hob and oven), sink, hot water system and fridge. I also saved all the cupboard/locker doors and some of the units/walls for use as templates when making new stuff.
I had intended to try to either use or sell the chassis of the caravan for use as a trailer, but in the end I decided that I didn't have the time, space or inclination so I got Pete (my friend whose charity I was abusing for the day) to Freecycle it for me. A man from the local scout group came and took it away to turn into a trailer for moving a ride-on mower around.
Here are some before, during and after pictures to show a flavour of the destruction.
